The world's gone greyscale.

I dunno about you but I've been watching the content-creation world for a long time. I've been writing for a long time, and reading it for longer. I spend way too much time on X-Twitter and other sites.

I have to, I built my business there, built a 100,000+ account there, earned over $100,000, made friends with A-List copywriters, email marketers, authors and more...

...but lately I've wanted to just...

Jack it all in!

Delete my X-Twitter account

Delete my Gmail account

Throw my phone out a window

and go live in a cabin in the woods.

(Or at least my cabin in the garden.)

Because these days everyone online is just so...

...boring.

There's a sea of sludge on social media. A mountain of meh with a molehill of meaning. It's like the whole world's gone greyscale, like everyone simultaneously lost their doggone shines, like the memo went out to stop being fun.

Nobody's interesting any more.

Nobody stands out.

They all sound the same.

Including you, dear reader. And I hate to break it to you but you can't build anything if you don't learn to fix that.

Until you do, you're just treading water in the sea of content slop, utterly indistinguishable from everyone around you.

And that means that

NOBODY

is listening to you!

Nobody is listening because you sound the same as everyone else.

Nobody is listening because nobody knows what makes you, you.

Nobody is listening because you never learned how to stand out.

And when nobody listens, nobody acts. Nobody buys. Nobody remembers. And you're just wasting your time.

And time is the one thing you'll never have enough of.

For one thing, AI is a real and present danger. Not to great writers who know how to stand out and sound different. But to anyone who's generating the same-sounding stuff that everyone is used to? Well, AI does a decent job of delivering that bland and boring contentslop...

...only it does it a heckuva lot faster than any human can type (even me.)

That's why whenever you scroll your social media feed you see content creators crapping themselves about CrapGPT and the like.

They're terrified. And they should be. Because bland and boring is bound for the bin. They have no voice, no style, no pizzazz. And the honest truth is that

If you sound like a robot...

...robots can replace you!

Meanwhile, I'm having the time of my writing life and when it comes to the increasing

threat of AI-generated contentslop? Well...

Or will you develop your Voice Box?

Because there's a reason I'm not worried about AI, or mass-market contentslop drowning me out.

And that reason is my 'secret' weapon.

(Okay, it's not much of a secret when I flaunt it with every word I write, but...)

The well-kept secret is a writing style that stands out.

A voice that demands to be heard.

A voice that gets feedback like this to my emails all the time:

Interlude: Things people said 'bout me

Most [emails] though, I don't even open, let alone read. Settle, Throssell, Bejakovic, Drew, Belgray are regularly opened.

But honestly, James, you're up there with the best of them. In fact I'd go so far as to say that you are singularly unique; there's no one in my inbox writing quite like you do.

James always has something different to say compared to all the gurus. He makes you think outside the box. Plus, it's straight up entertaining.

You’re genuinely the most remarckable newsletter going out there. Indeed, it's the only one I read. Thank you

Honestly, I love this take.... the freedom to be yourself is liberating. Thanks for this one.

That's what I want to teach you today.

I boiled down everything I know about style, about developing your unique writing voice, and put it into a four week email-delivered course.

And yes, I said your unique voice.

Because this is not a Copy Carran course. The last thing I want is you writing like me.

(Or like Ben Settle, William Shakespeare, Terry Pratchett or anyone else.)

No, what I want is to show you how to shape your style in a way that works for you and nobody else. A way that makes you literally uncopyable because it's wrapped up in your own unique way of wording things.

Abruptly, you arrived at the end...

...there is no more procrastination here for you. Start now.

FAQ, I missed the checkout.

Well, fine. You done gone and skipped past it so I guess you still got questions.

Here are some questions nobody asked, but some people might be asking.

  • What format is the course?
The bulk of the course is an email delivered course that will arrive in your inbox over four weeks. There's also some supplemental video and audio training that I have added or will be add in future. That part is hosted on Thrivecart. (So is the complete text of the email course, just in case of technical hitches or you lose it.)
  • Can I delay it until it suits me?
Yep. As soon as you buy, you'll get an email welcoming you to the course. Inside that email is a link that starts the course. Save it safe.

It'll wait to start until you do that.
  • Will this be constantly updated for free?
    No. Well, yes. But no.

Is confusing. Let me explain. I will periodically update Voice Box if it needs it. I may well add a bunch of extra bonus training in there. You'll get all that for free.

But this is not a Content Creatooooor bullshido manual.

Those guys advertise that they’re constantly updating the course and you get all the updates for free etc. because they’re teaching short term tricks that NEED updating every two months.

The principles and tactics in Voice Box are eternal. They have been battle-tested by many writers over many years. They ain’t gonna change. (Literally, some of this course draws heavily on books that are a hundred years old or close to it.)

If I develop new strategies I'll add them in, but I'm not gonna re-record everything just so I can raise the price and pressure people to buy it before the update.
  • Is there a refund policy?
Yes, there is a refund policy.

The policy is that there are no refunds. Zilch. Zip. Nada.

The simple truth is that anyone buying this product has a long, hard road ahead. Developing a writing voice is the work of a lifetime. Maybe longer. Yes, some stuff will give you a quick win, but to really dig deep and apply this will take a decade of hard work.

No offence but I ain't parking your payment for a decade to see if you stick at it...

Besides, this is advanced and expensive writing training. Experience tells me that anyone asking about refunds is not ready to knuckle down and apply themselves to this course. Which means I can’t help you yet.

Stick around, sign up for the Write Way if you haven’t already, maybe buy Speed Daemon Secrets and start getting your reps in. Then come back here and grab Voice Box.
  • Is there a payment plan?
    No.

For similar reasons to there being no refunds.

This is advanced training, and if you can’t afford it easily, I don’t want you to buy it.

That’s not a sales tactic comment either, I really don’t. I’ve seen far too many people stretch themselves to buy a product and fall into bother. Heck, even I’ve fallen for a guru deadline and then spent the next three months wincing at every other expense. It’s not worth it.

Please, do not stretch yourself to get this because if you’re buried in financial stress it ain’t gonna do you much good. The ROI on developing your writing voice is infinite but also not imminent. It'll take time.

Besides, one of the reasons this is my most expensive training is because I don't want beginners buying it first. Payment plans would spoil that.
  • Is this right for me?
I don’t know. Contra the CAW-CAWs, not every writer struggles with the same basic problems.

Some of you probably have a great and distinctive writing voice already. You have people hanging on your every word, recognising your prose, addictively absorbing your writing... but heck. You’ve read through thousands of words of my admittedly average copy because it mentioned developing a great writing voice so, um… I guess you’re interested?

You make the call, dear reader. Not me.
